The Hillcrest Cemetery is locally significant as the final resting place of men and women who made contributions to the Town of Cary’s social, economic, political, religious growth and development during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The cemetery is the town’s only municipal cemetery and has burials that date from 1840 to 2012. Noteworthy among those buried here are members of the Page and Jones families, Marcus Baxter Dry, Alfred “Buck” Jones, Dr. James M. Templeton, and Russell O. Heater
