CAP’s educational activities draw attention to the vital role that historic preservation plays across Wake County and beyond. Some recent events and programs include a 5k for Historic Preservation, Landmarks Tours of Garner, Cary, Wake Forest and other Wake County communities and travel programs to Savannah, Charleston, the Shenadoah Valley, and the James River Plantations among other locations. CAP also communicates the importance of historic preservation through the sale of Kelly A. Lally’s book, The Historic Architecture of Wake County, North Carolina and the sale of K. Todd Johnson’s book, Historic Wake County: The Story of Raleigh and Wake County for wholesale and retail purchase. Wholesale purchasers should contact CAP. From time to time, CAP also offers other new and “vintage” books on preservation topics. CAP members receive a 10% discount on all online store purchases.
Over the past several years, CAP, in partnership with the Wake County Historic Preservation Commission has developed a special collection of historic preservation-related books at the Olivia Rainey Local History, 4016 Carya Drive in Raleigh. These resources are available to the public during the library’s normal business hours. Click on the link below for a complete inventory of the collection.
